What is PE or PVC rattan for outdoor rattan furniture?
2019-11-12 23:53:45

What we used to make outdoor rattan furntiure is PE RATTAN.

Its full mane is Polyethylene, English Abbreviation PE, it is the polymer of ethylene, non-toxic. Easy coloring, good chemical stability, cold resistance, radiation resistance, good eletrical insulation. It is suitable for food and drug packaging materials, production of tableware, medical euipment, but also can do the electronics industry insulation materials.

No doubt there are some rattan made of polyvinyl chloride on the market, we called it PVC. It is chemically stable, acid, alkali and some chemical erosion. It is resistant to moisture, aging and fire. It can not be used at temperature above 60 degree centigarde and will harden at low temperatures. The polyvinyl chloride is made of soft plastic and hard plastic. Soft mainly made into film, as packaging materials, rain supplies, agricultural seedlings film, but also as cable, wire insulation layer, artificial leather products. Hard, generally made tubes and plates, used for water pipes and pipes conveying corrosion-resistant fluids, and plates used as linings and floors for varios storage tanks.

Polyvinyl chloride resins are non-toxic, polyvinyl chloride monomers are highly toxic, and polyvinyl chloride products are toxic, depending on whether the residual monomers in the polymerization process are removed to a certain extent. The other is to see whether the additive added in the processing is toxic. For example, if the content of vinyl chloride monomer in PVC food preservative film is too high, especially in the high temperature enviroment such as microwave oven, it is easy to decompose substances that have carcinogenic effect on human body; it addtion, if the plasticizer and stabilizer used in processing PVC fresh-keeping film are not well chosen, it is also easy to do harm to human body.

It's obvious, PE is food-grade, however, PVC products are likely to be easily decomposed to the body of carcinogenic substances.

That's why we choose PE rattan to make outdoor rattan furniture, but not PVC.
